Abramin is a bench-top, automatic microprocessor-controlled machine capable for the grinding and polishing of specimens fixed in a specimen holder disc (160mm in diameter). The grinding and polishing are carried out on a horizontally rotating disc (305mm dia. for non-adhesive grinding paper and 250-300mm dia. for polishing clothes) and the rotating disc with the specimen is pressed eccentrically against it. Amount of pressure, lubricant or cooling water can be manually adjusted whereas the microprocessor controls time, disc speed and choice between cooling water and lubricant. It has also 8 programs into which the above-mentioned data can be individually programmed. It is very useful not only in achieving high quality surfaces of many kinds o
f materials in the use of metallographic examination and substrates preparation for growing thin films, but also in lapping specimens to very thin such as TEM samples. Newly upgraded magnetic polishing disc and clothes makes the polishing operation much easier and eliminates the contaminating between different samples.
